CHRISTMAS/PRESENTATION LUNCH
Nelson Bay Bowling & Recreation Club
7th December 2020
The annual Christmas/Presentation function to mark the end of the year was held on Monday 7th December 2020. COVID restrictions dictated a very different celebration including holding a lunch rather than a dinner.
Despite the restriction 50+ members and guests enjoyed the event. Guest of honour was John Nell retiring Port Stephens Councillor who has been a great supporter of local sport including the croquet club during his 33 years on Council.

BLOWES SHIELD DOUBLES
15th November
The largest field in the history of the competition with 14 doubles pairs contesting the event.
The winners of the four blocks, all unbeaten in round-robin play, were Liz Friend & Rae Uptin, Trevor & Rae Black, Linda Butler & David Wilson, and Jim Ball & Karen Lilly. In the semi-finals, Liz & Rae beat Jim & Karen 7-6 and Linda & David beat Trevor & Rae 7-3.
The final weas a tightly contested affair with Hoop 5, with the score tied 2-2, taking most of the allotted time – just as a player seemed well-positioned to run the hoop, they were “roqued” away and the set-up process started all over again. The score was 4-3 in favour of Linda & David when the allotted time expired – a very close game.
Congratulations, Lin da and David.
